How To Wear A Stethoscope
I'm Caleb Owen , Have you recently started a new job as a nurse or you are in yours friends doctors office and you want to wear a stethoscope, here are some tips on how to properly wear a stethoscope. Here are my steps to follow:
- Step by Step
- Start by adjusting the length of the tubing. Hold the chest piece in one hand and the earpieces in the other. Extend or shorten the tubing until it comfortably reaches your ears.
- Place the earpieces in your ears. Make sure the earpieces are inserted correctly and are comfortable for you to wear.
- Position the chest piece on the patient's chest. The diaphragm (the round side) should be facing upwards and the bell (the smaller side) should be facing downwards.
- Adjust the earpieces to fit snugly in your ears. This will help block out any background noise and allow you to hear the patient's heart and lung sounds clearly.
- Finally, make sure that the tubing is not twisted or kinked. This can affect the sound transmission and make it difficult to hear the patient's heart and lung sounds.
I hope these tips are helpful for you as you continue your journey as a nurse. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
